Parking Lot Paving in the GTA: Commercial Interlocking Built for the Job

Heavy traffic. Ontario winters. Constant use. Most parking lot paving in the GTA isn’t built for that. Ours is.

Why Parking Lots Need a Different Approach

A commercial parking lot carries a different load than a driveway or patio. Delivery trucks, tight turns, and repeated braking near entrances concentrate stress in specific spots, while drainage has to work across the whole property instead of one small area.

Base preparation, subgrade conditions, drainage, and edge restraint all affect how the finished surface performs over time. That’s why we assess the property first, before discussing materials or pricing.

Built for GTA Winters

Ontario winters put real demands on exterior hardscape. Water enters small gaps, freezes, expands, and pushes pavers apart, and the GTA goes through this cycle repeatedly every winter, not just once. Salt and plow activity add further stress on a surface that wasn’t planned with winter in mind.

We account for freeze-thaw exposure, salt, and plow clearance at the design stage, not as an afterthought.

Drainage and Materials

Water needs a planned path from the surface to the drainage points, across the entire site, without leaving low spots that collect water and turn to ice in winter. We map grading and drainage before any pavers go down.

Different areas of a property carry different loads. A loading zone needs a heavier-duty product than a pedestrian entrance. We install Techo-Bloc’s commercial-grade lines, matched to what each area actually sees.

Parking Lot Pavement Design and Installation Process

Site assessment. Traffic patterns, drainage, grades, and existing conditions.

Pavement design and itemized quote. A plan built around actual use, not a generic template.
Excavation and base preparation. The stage that determines whether it lasts.
Grading, drainage, and paver installation. Built to the design.
Final walkthrough. Reviewed with you before we call it done.

Getting a Parking Lot Paving Estimate

Cost depends on total area, existing site conditions, excavation and base requirements, drainage, paver selection, and construction phasing. A low estimate isn’t necessarily a better one if it gets there by cutting what’s underneath the surface. We provide an itemized quote so you can see exactly what’s included, built to commercial parking lot paving standards rather than a stripped-down residential spec.

Frequently Asked Questions – Parking Lot Paving in the GTA

Yes. We serve commercial properties throughout the GTA, including Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Markham, Mississauga, Brampton, Toronto, Oakville, Aurora, Newmarket, Pickering, Ajax, and Whitby.
It depends on the project size, existing conditions, excavation requirements, drainage, access, and construction sequence. Smaller projects may take days, while larger or more complex installations can take several weeks.
In many cases, yes. Where site conditions allow, commercial projects can be phased to maintain access to portions of the property during construction.
Interlocking pavers can be repaired section by section without resurfacing the entire lot, and tend to handle freeze-thaw movement differently than a solid asphalt surface. Asphalt is often lower in upfront cost and faster to install on a very large area. The right choice depends on the property, the budget, and how the site is used.
Total area, existing site and subgrade conditions, excavation requirements, base preparation, drainage requirements, paver selection, site access, and construction phasing all affect cost. Two properties of the same size can have very different costs depending on existing conditions.
This depends on the municipality and the scope of the project. We'd recommend confirming specific requirements with the municipality or your project's engineer, since this varies by property and location.
Yes. Inno Interlocking is a Techo-Pro Certified installer through Techo-Bloc and a BBB Accredited Business. We carry $5 million in liability insurance and are fully WSIB covered.
Check for commercial-specific project experience, manufacturer certification, liability insurance, WSIB coverage, and real reviews. A parking lot pavement company should be able to explain why their proposed base and drainage approach fits your specific property, not just quote a price per square foot.

Already Dealing With a Failing Lot?

If your existing parking lot is sinking, rutting, or holding water, that’s a parking lot pavement repair question, not an installation one. See our Commercial Interlocking Repair and Maintenance page for how we assess and fix existing surfaces, including ones we didn’t originally install.
